Yesenia Martin in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Meet Yesenia Martin APRN, PMHNP-BC

Yesenia has been working in the medical field for the past 14 years. She started as a medical assistant and discovered patient care was her passion. She started her nursing career in 2016 at Aventura Hospital Level II Trauma Center in the Emergency Room and within 2 years she obtained an ER Director position for a private 23 bed, Stroke Certified ER at Larkin Community Hospital in Hialeah, FL. It was during this time that she chose to pursue her post masters’ degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Maryville University. Yesenia believes that where the mind goes the body follows making a person’s mental health just as important as their physical well-being, yet so often overlooked. As a PMHNP, she wants patients to feel heard and understood. Her goal is to establish a therapeutic relationship with the patient from the first initial visit and in every encounter thereafter. She provides mental health care across the lifespan and utilizes psychoeducation with medication management to improve patient outcomes.

Our Treatment Philosophy

We understand that starting therapy and talking about your experiences can be scary and even overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Our approach to treatment is collaborative and approachable.  From the very beginning, we make it our priority to make sure you know you are in a welcoming, comfortable, and safe space where you can speak freely without fear of being judged or negatively criticized and where you can find your peace, discover your inner strengths, and grow to reach your highest potential.

We have a passion for providing the utmost quality of care. We are deeply committed to guiding and walking alongside individuals through their personal journeys of emotional and mental health development on their healing journey. With a wealth of experience in treating depression, anxiety, stress, relational conflict, trauma complexities, and other challenges and disorders, we have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, families, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Our services are unique to each individual, and we use several therapy approaches, including coaching, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), compassion-focused therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), motivational interviewing, multicultural therapy, narrative therapy, person-centered, positive psychology, psychodynamic, reality therapy, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), structural family therapy, and trauma-focused therapy.

We work to cultivate a positive relationship with you and make sure to provide empathy, support, validation, and a clear roadmap for success, challenging you to try new approaches and work towards growth. We also incorporate Christian spiritual beliefs into the treatment protocol to holistically address your needs if requested.

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges or struggling with mental health, we are here to partner with you, help you move forward from feeling stuck, and support you toward your desired outcomes.
